Two people are making out at Inspiration Point (No, I don’t think it’s the same place the Fonz went to all the time ) when a space ship crashes in a remote area. (Hmm...on the other hand, remember how Mork from Ork just landed in his egg that time…) Eight months later, the fetus is tired of being in the womb so he jumps out, rips off his umbilical cord, and takes off into the world. Granted, a traumatic experience like this is bound to drive even the sanest of people a little insane - and I really don’t think that momma had it all together to begin with. The next day mom’s getting in trouble with the law for her missing baby. She’s being arrested, but mom is no slouch and easily escapes from the long arm of the law. Meanwhile, the government is trying to cover up the alien ship crash. Plus, a mysterious boy named Billy and a “doctor; have found the Fetus, but what are their plans for it?
Slave Labor Graphics is known for their series that are off the beaten path. Andy Ristaino’s Life of a Fetus definitely one of those type of stories. As ridiculous as it may seem for a fetus to just jump out of the womb at eight months, free himself from his “reins; and go off into the harsh, cruel, world; after a few pages of story the idea doesn’t seem quite so crazy. The series is hard to describe and is probably one that you’d be better off examining for yourself. I did like the wacky characters and situations. It’s hard to find something to compare this to. It’s just a wigged out story that is also imaginative and very creative. After all, almost everything else imaginable has happened in comics, why not a fetus deciding it wanted out?
